Custom Engineered Control House
Overview
A customer needed a specialized engineering task force to design and implement a fully integrated turn-key protection and control solution for its substation project. RPS was tasked with designing a custom protection and control solution based on the customer’s requirements. The RPS team’s knowledge and experience of protection and control systems were important factors in this project.
The RPS team was able to:
- Design and deliver a turn-key custom solution based on the customer’s requirements
- Utilize expert knowledge in protection and control systems
- Execute from concept to design and through installation
Challenge
The customer needed a turn-key solution that met their requirements, complied with regulations, and was delivered on time and on budget. Expert knowledge of engineering, design, and protection and control systems was crucial to execute this project successfully.
Solution
The RPS team implemented a turn-key solution to meet the customer’s needs by designing a protection and control system compatible with their existing systems. The project involved an assessment of the customer’s project and the design and delivery of the custom solution, which was a sophisticated hardware and software-based protection and control system.
Impact
The customer needed expertise and resources in the protection and control field. By contracting the services to RPS, the customer had access to specialized skills they did not have in-house.
RPS designed a turn-key solution to meet the customer’s needs. They minimized the interaction of the existing set up with the new protection and control system by simulating and validating the operation during the initial phase to accomplish a successful upgrade.
As a result, the customer delivered the project on time and on budget.
